Workshop Venue
The workshop will be held on board the Skorpios cruise, sailing through the channels of the south of Chile, visiting the San Rafael Glacier.
The San Rafael Glacier is part of the Northern Patagonian Icefield, and it is one of the fastest-moving glaciers in the world. It has been one of the biggest natural attractions of Chile and has been considered as a world-natural reserve from the UNESCO.
Weather
The weather is cold and rainy all year round, and the average temperature is 8ºC, without much difference between summer and winter.

How to arrive
There are direct, 3 hour flights with LAN Chile from Santiago de Chile to the town of Balmaceda in the South of Chile (with a 30 minute stop over in Puerto Montt). From Balmaceda the Skorpios company takes the passengers with a bus to Puerto Chacabuco, from where the cruise departs.
The round flight Santiago-Balmaceda costs approximately US$ 250.
You can make your own travel arrangements to reach or leave Balmaceda.

with two of the workshop organizers for a long time, will be happy to

The participants are suggested to take the LAN flight from Santiago to
Balmaceda on Nov. 06 at 10:00; and kindly requested to notify the organizers
about the flight to Balmaceda they will eventually take.
Just in case, here is some additional information about flights between
Santiago and Balmaceda around the time of the WS (in case some people want to
arrive earlier or leave later). It was provided by the travel agent Sylvia

Ship Information
We have more precise information about the ship schedule. The ship departs from Puerto Chacabuco on November 6th at 20:00. The Skorpios company takes the passengers from the Balmaceda Airport to Puerto Chacabuco, which is a 3 hour trip by bus. In consequence, the passengers must arrive at the airport in Balmaceda before 16:00 on Nov. 6th.
On the way back, the ship arrives in Puerto Chacabuco on Nov. 10th at 08:00 am. Passengers are taken back to Balmaceda, in a bus of the Skorpios company, so it is possible for them to catch the flight that takes off from Balmaceda airport at 12:00 pm.
The transportation between the airport in Balmaceda and Puerto Chacabuco and back is provided by the Skorpios company and is included in the registration price.
